Just A Reminder

we’ve all got
dead end dollar signs
in our eyes
blinders to keep us
from compromise,
a meeting between
intellect and beast
to find some familiar
middle ground

we all move
in some busy bee
hectic haze that
rocks us venomously
from cradle to grave
and buries us in holes
we work our whole lives
digging out

we’re all just
trying to get by
living languid little
lies that promise us
diamond tomorrows
and then we die
never really knowing
what this was ever
all about

It’ a ‘Momento Mori’ Monday, folks. Well, not that Monday’s don’t always remind us of our mortal bounds. Anywho, just a small one that was whipped up a few nights back and just got cleaned up enough to post in public. Here’s to hoping you enjoyed it, and that your Monday is going by fast. If it’s getting you down, just remember we’ve got a holiday this week and (hopefully) you’ve got it off.

  1. I haven’t got dollar signs in my eyes. I’ve never even seen a real dollar.

    1. They are addicting little buggers, lemme tell you that! Sometimes you get a look at um and ya never want to stop staring.

  2. Keep the 7th day for the Sabbath. The day without the dollar sign.
    Thank you for the reminder.

  3. Really like “living languid little
    lies” says a lot.

    1. πŸ˜€ I’m glad you enjoyed it. When I was thinking of the line, I wanted something that could express a lot, be said in a few words, and sound good. Thankfully, I think that lil’ one turned out rather well. Thanks for reading πŸ™‚

  4. Love this!
‘languid little lies’ so brilliantly said.
    Well done, thanks for sharing!
