Orders Recieved

Outline of soldiers marching

Orders Received

Onwards my awkward soldiers
Keep on marching right on forwards
Towards that fabled light

And, sure, we’ve got a fight before us but
It’s nothing that cannot be made victorious
With some help from our laborious
Wandering little minds

So take the time and we’ll plot a course
Infiltrate the establishment and take by force
That which we will use to enforce
Our specific breed
Of life

Welcome to the end of the week, Folks! Hope you’ve got some time to sit down and just enjoy life this weekend. The poem above is just a fun lil’ one that I hope you enjoy, sort of a battle cry for those who are trying to carve out their own piece of the world in order to get a little peace of mind.

Well, here’s to hoping that your weekend is long, your drinks are cold, and that Monday finds you roaring and ready to go.

Workplace White Noise

Workplace White Noise Picture

Workplace White Noise

It’s the clacking of keys
And ringing of phones
The chitter of chatter
And the droning of drones

The bicker of bosses
And the laughing of friends
The ticking of clocks
Until the day ends

Then the roaring of cars
And the honking of horns
The tacking of feet until
The closing of doors.

We’re halfway there, folks. How you holding on this week? I took some time to sit back and take in the sounds of the world this morning, and though I’d throw together that poem for all of those who hear the very same thing.

Here’s to hoping that your day flies by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight!

Special thanks to  roijaune for the awesome picture!

Hard Work

digging in the sand picture

Hard Work

Face it
we’re in a rut and
we may not fit
through the closest
crack we can find

So we’ll have to dig instead
with spoons, nails, claws,
eyes, and pens
if we ever hope to
get out of here
alive

And then, after all that
we’ll have to bite, scream
cough and laugh
just to find if
we’ve still got enough
steam to say that we’ve
carved out a life instead
of digging a hole in
which we will just
curl up and comfortably
die.

Well, it’s Monday again, folks. My apologies about that but at least most of you have gotten on through it. Working the grind is never a fun thing, I know, but we’ve got to just keep on getting through, don’t we? I’m sure we’d all slit our throats for a lucky break but those seem few and far between that we just have to keep digging. Have to working right on through, no matter with what tool we wield the best!

Here’s to hoping that your day flies by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight!

Hanging On

picture of book page close up

Hanging On

Down and out
from being up
and down
still hanging on
but lacking solid
ground

Ready to place
my bets on
any sure sort
of chance
all while finding out
that I’m only
as good as my
regrets.

It’s short. It’s sweet. It’s Friday- and thank the entire universe for that! Well, we made it through another week, folks. Don’t know about yours, but mine’s been another interesting ride. Got that poem above there that sort of helped me feel out exactly how my head has been handling all this, and I’m sure that anyone who feels like they aren’t exactly on the most solid ground can relate. Kinda that point where you’re looking for anything that your feet won’t pass right on through to stand on.

Well, here’s to hoping that your weekend is long, your drinks are cold, and the world finds you ready to go another round!

Special thanks to mikhas for the awesome image today!

Counterproductive

muses picture

Counterproductive

These unenthusiastic muses
march instead of waltz
to music

beating their vases
and slapping their hands

they shatter prose and
pulverize rhyme

those discordant spirits
corrupting my
mind

Well, it’s happened again hasn’t it, folks- It’s Monday. Hopefully your day finds you a bit better than mine. I’ve been trying to work on some personal work and had a bit of trouble with all those muses stomping around in my mind. Guess this is what I get for wanting them to come so badly in the first place, yeah? Well, either way, this is  tribute to those days where everything’s a bit too quiet on the outside and too loud on the in.

Here’s to hoping that your day flies on by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you come home tonight!

It’s short. It’s sweet. It’s Friday. Well, welcome to the weekend, folks. Ironically enough, this post was delayed by a flash snow storm.

Well, I hope your weekend is long, your drinks are cold, and that Monday finds you roaring and ready to go another round!

The Struggling Romantic

The Struggling Romantic

8:27 in the morning
And life’s already
Boring me again
And everyday is
An exercise in
Romanticism
Just to keep chasing
Shadows on the walls
That look a whole lot
Like dreams

Mornin’, folks. Trying to pull myself through the day over here and glad to find that half of the week (the hard part at least) is behind me. This poem was (obviously) written early in the morning a few days ago and, thankfully, it turned out all right. Captured that feeling a I get when, that early in the morning, I’m already starting to think I should be somewhere else. A bit less upbeat than normal, but hopefully you can relate

Well, I won’t keep ya any longer. Here’s to hoping that your day flies by and that you have something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight!

It’s Not ( Thank You Cont.)

Thank You

Honestly, thank you.

It’s not that I couldn’t
do it without you,
it’s that I simply
wouldn’t.

Seriously, still going on to thank everyone for their support, folks. I honestly wouldn’t have done this without you. If I had started posting my poetry and hadn’t had followers that clicked daily or commented frequently, I probably would have given up by now. Well, not probably. I would have given up by now. So, in turn, you are really the driving force behind all this if you are reading this right now and, as I said before, thank you. I appreciate it more than you know.

picture of cupcake

It’s maple bacon. You should be drooling right about now.

… and I got to get myself this cupcake, as per tradition, so it is an all around good sensation 😉

Anywho, hope you’re at home enjoying something cold and on the rocks tonight! Be sure to have another one on me for all that you’ve helped to do.

3,000 Thank Yous (and 1 Poem)

Thank You

Honestly.

I’m terrified of
tomorrow
and my heart sinks
skips
beats when I think
of the unwritten road
but, relieved,
you’re there with
me
and though you may
never hold my hand tight
you’ll make me
believe
that there
today
might be a happy
ending to come
if I still follow
my fool-hearted
dream.

Well, it’s Monday again, folks. Not a bad one, if I might say so. Mostly on the line that I finally got my thank you out to you all. Had one of those times where I was writing a completely different poem but this one sprung out of a though I had during it and, well, it turned out to be a little better of one. I hope you enjoy it as that is the point. Always.

I honestly can’t thank everyone enough. You have no idea how every like, every follow, and every comment keeps me going and keeps me writing. I wouldn’t be able to do this without you.

Anywho, be on the lookout today for the next poem I’ll be posting today. It is a tiny lil’ poem but I think you’ll enjoy it!

Here’s to hoping your day flies by and that you have something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight!

Small Talk

Small Talk

They all say just how
the cookie crumbles but
not how the lion fell

talk of always the way
things are but never
of the voices quelled

It’s short, it’s sweet- It’s Friday, folks! Thought I’d toss up this lil’ guy while still in the process of finishing up ‘ We Will’. Can’t rush a thank you poem around here, especially not when it is for all of y’all. Anywho, I hope you enjoy this little albeit more serious poem as a homage to the shallow nature of talk for those who want to look a bit deeper.

Here’s to hoping that your weekend is long, your drinks are cold, and that Monday finds you ready for another round!
