Scrap #1

Checking out as I’m
clocking in
my mind tottles off as
the day begins
and as I’m clacking keys
and doing jobs
my soul wanders like
a kid who’s lost

Well, it’s Monday and this one came harder than most. Left with with a little bit of writer’s block and that means all you got left with is a scrap of an idea that got checked off my list. It seems like I could do something with it, but I’m not really sure what yet.

Here’s to hoping that your day flies by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight.

This Will Hurt

1127845_77387486

If life came
with a label
it should read
‘this will hurt’

because it will
make you ache
so damn much
so damn good

for so many things

It’s short. It’s sweet. It’s Friday, folks! Tossed together this poem a little while ago. Just talking here about how there’s always so many things in life to do, or that we can do, it makes it almost hurt to think you might never be able to do them all. It’s a good thing, don’t get me wrong, to want to keep experiencing new things, traveling to new places, or learning something you didn’t know but it’s a yearning that’s constantly there. It’s a hurt that’s bittersweet about it the more you think on it.

Well, thanks for stopping by and I hope this weekend that your drinks are colds, your nights long, and that Monday finds you roaring and ready to go.

Resourcefulness

Resourcefulness

Resourcefulness

We’re stuck in it
bogged down
mucked up but
we’re in luck
because if
you roll with the
punches
and learn to take those
kicks
you’ll be immune
impressed
by the world and
what
you can make
of it.

Monday again, folks, and I hope you’re getting though it like the best of them. It is back to the grind over here after a slight vacation away from it and, well, no one likes coming back right away, do they?  Still, if we learn to work through it and get used to some of the bumps and shoves, it turns out it might not be so bad here. Plenty of things to do. Places to go. People to see. Things to drink.

Well, here’s to hoping that your day flies by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight.

Stating the Obvious

Stating the Obvious

Stating the Obvious

Poets cry “life is fleeing!”
Well, no shit, Sherlock,
we already know
it doesn’t matter how long
we’ve got left
it’s what we do
and
where we go.

Well, it’s short. It’s sweet. It’s Friday, folks. Here’s to hoping that you made it to your weekend and that you’re facing some time off. If not, well, just keep trekking on and at least make it a little fun.

Well, here’s to hoping your night are long, your drinks are cold, and that Monday finds you roaring and ready to go.

The Road Taken

Urban decayed building

The Road Taken

We seldom double back
on our own paths
and yet we trod them
blindly
and  then we curse the stars
our past, our scars
and forget we met them
kindly.

Halfway there, folks.  Got a little somethin’ for you posted above that I was dwelling on after reading some Frost. Now, I’m not saying you should live with regret or even feel it. Thing is, no matter where we are, most of it was done by our own choosing. Just gotta, you know, carry on and keep going from there. Maybe little a little more mindful of what we’re doing and what we’re about to step in next time.

Here’s to hoping that the rest of the week flies on by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rock waiting for you when you get home tonight.

Just Write

Just Write

Just Write

Write
angry
drunk
disheveled
fucked up

Write
unhindered
afraid
high
insane

Just
for the love
of all

just write

write to save
your god
damned
life.

Made it to Monday again, folks.  Hopefully your week is off to a good start and that this little poem here might help you get into writing, if that’s your thing. Either way, I hope you enjoy and that your day flies by to find that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight.

To All My Angels

To All My Angels

To All My Angels

You weren’t wearing wings
but jeans
t-shirts and smiles that
brought me back down
right where I
needed to
be
the most.

It’s short. It’s sweet. It’s Friday, folks. Welcome to the weekend and congrats for making it here.  Hope you enjoyed my little ode to all those who have made your life a little better, even though they’re not wearing any snazzy sparkling rings or wings. I’ve found that most of the people that will do great good in your life are plain ordinary or, hell, even a little out there looking. All part of that ‘it’s what is on the inside that counts’ spiel.

Well, here’s to hoping that your weekend is long, your drinks are cold, and that Monday finds you roaring and ready to go at it again. I’ll see you there.

((Special thanks goes to Saiuri for the snazzy image up there))

I Get By

I Get By

I Get By

I get dragged under
pushed over
fed up
put down

but still I
get by.

Simple and short, this one gets right to the point, folks. Just a little quip that I thought you might enjoy. No matter what tries to work you over, what knocks you down or what takes you off your feet, all that matters is that you simply keep going and that you get on by.

Here’s to hoping that your day flies by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight!

Birds of the Orient

Birds of the Orient

Birds of the Orient

Flung and fluttered into luxury,

against golden bars their timid wings do flap,

and under stars they grow calloused scars,

burns of gaudy straps.

Mornin’, folks. Monday again, but at least this one’s a little better. Why? Well, because I’m back at posting, of course. Got the summer business out of the way and now I’m finally set back up to write again. Wanted to throw up this lil’ one in the morning, and I hope you enjoy. While it’s not my usual funny Monday poem, I like the imagery and the sound of it and I hope you do too.

Well, as always, here’s to hoping that your day flies by and that you have something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight.
