We’ll Take What We Can Get

1ede271fdeec0b328eb9b3293c6d8035

We’re not
in it to win it we’re
just trying hard to
cut our loss
clutching the time that’s
left
playing life so very close
to the chest
wondering when where
can we get off?

Well, it’s Monday again. Sure, we all gotta rise but we might not particularly feel too inclined to shine. We’re just trying to go through the motions while trying to work out how best to make them stop.

Hope you liked the little scrap above. If ya did, feel free to stop by and comment below. Good to hear from some kindred souls now and again.

As always, here’s to hoping your day flies right on by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight.

Keep On

Running on empty
right into a wall
left in a heap of
limbs, bills, withdrawal

stitch it up together with
clocks, laws, regrets

pick it back up because
life’s not done with you yet.

Another Monday, another poem to moan it’s arrival. Here’s to hoping that you stop on by, like what you see, and maybe got a little smile. ‘Cause you know we need them this time of the week.

Well, as always, here’s to hoping your day flies right on by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight.

The Secret To My Failure

b473c85da1cf748a99bbbdd48321faa0.jpg

(or, as I like to call it, Lies That Books Told Me)

It isn’t that I’m not eager or that
I shy away from
(hard) work,
It’s just that I’m 90% incompetent
and 10% a jerk,
bitter,
running off ambitions and
the dying steam of dreams,
jaded from  my memories
and all the lies that books
told to me:

-Things get bad, but the good guys always
wins
-the villains always laugh but they’ll
go down in the end

-That, in a hallway full of walls,
a door would open up for me
-that people might wave but, in the end,
good is what they’ll be

-That,if you get lost, something awesome is
waiting out there for you
-And, most loathed of all, the world’s a good place if your
heart remains true

Well, there you have it folks. Figured it’s Monday so I might as well be on the level with everyone else who is suffering on through. Just a little tidbit of myself and how I rose to this illustrious position that I am now, bringing you little scraps of myself in hopes that we can all just keep on going and pull on through.

As always: here’s to hoping your day flies right on by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight.

Partners In Crime

d5e79eea98497f63e700e035db1f8ffc

My feet hit, a brisk hiss
at the cold of a tile
floored kitchen

I’m waiting, here at the
coffee machine,
wondering,
mind on a mission

to
deduce the cause,
solve this mystery

to start with and
identify
the players in this
crime,

to figure it out
I rely
on the familiar,
the trite

who,
what,
when,
where,
why

me,
regrets,
everyday,
here,
ill-prepared for life

and

you,
read,
now,
here
to kill time, commiserate, feel alive.

Some of us are working, some of us are off- It’s the usual Monday madhouse around here. Thought I might further add to the madness with a new poem above, as promised. It’s a fancy way of saying that you wake up in the morning and wonder how the the hell your life got to this. Well, for most folks at least. For me? I’m just glad I’ve got you along for the ride right there with me.

Thanks for stopping on by.

Well, as always, here’s to hoping your day flies right on by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight.

The Regret Is Strong With This One

Cold mornings consecrate regrets
ordaining echoes of my past
into entitled shadows
that hold congress
on my path.

Mornin’, folks. Monday again and I’m sure more than a few are feeling the chill. You know how it goes- you wake up, it’s cold, you start getting ready for the grind. Next thing you know, your mind’s wandering and you’re getting all sour. You know what though? That’s just fine.

Toss the coffee on, make yourself some eggs, and keep going on. The hardest part is over and you just have to make it to tonight.

Well, as always, here’s to hoping your day flies right on by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight.

Waking Woes

ca7589fb08fd9c81a6f4603849d3cb50

Eyes open up to that
alarm scream sound
sun’s not up but
feet touch ground

back’s still sore
and soul’s still
down

but coffee’s warm
and toast will brown

and heart’s still pure
while hours are long
and dream’s still short
while hope drones on.

Well, we’re up. We’re moving. It’s Monday. What more can you say than that, folks? Hope you enjoy the little scrap of writing above. This one was brewed fresh and finished this morning just in time for ya. Seems to summon up the gist of the it, don’t it? Despite the grind, we’re still getting on  with our eyes on the horizon, aren’t we?

If that didn’t do it for ya, be sure to check my links below for my other Monday poems. If your brain is too tired to read, feel free to pop on over to my Pintrest page for the site which I am sure won’t disappoint.

Off To the Races

Face it
We’re all lined up
stuck at the gate
alarms go off and
we chase it

Hounds horses
humans
led by with
jockeys horns
lures

We can accept
love hate it
but in the end
we’re all just
retired worn
jaded.

Another day another dollar, folks. Monday’s come back around the track again but, never fear, I’ve got that little scrap up there and then, of course, a little bit of humor always stuck down here. Down And Out

4d4dac90efc4e08226749f49358b125b.jpg

Rise and shine
just to get
up and at ’em

Gotta fill up
get tough and
keep on battlein’

because when your
tired, fed up
down and out

that’s when you’ve gotta
pick up , get tall
and put your money
in your mouth.

We’re in this together, folks. Another Monday come round but don’t you worry. We’ll get our coffee cups full, get on to work, and just work it on out. You’re already past the hardest part of your day, so don’t let anything go on and get you down.

As always: here’s to hoping your day flies right on by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight.
